Hellas Meze Golden Smoked Whole Herring
Issued: May 14, 2026Recall Reason:Product is an uneviscerated fish with potential for Clostridium botulinum contamination. The sale of uneviscerated fish is prohibited under New York State Agriculture and Markets regulation because Clostridium Botulinum spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera. The violation was discovered after sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Do not consume the Hellas Meze Golden Smoked Whole Herring as it poses a risk of botulism. Return the uneviscerated fish to the store where it was bought for a full refund or dispose of it in a secure trash receptacle.
